Hoya retusa Dalzell is a uniquely structured epiphytic Hoya from the Western Ghats of India. Unlike its thick-leaved relatives, this species grows narrow, flat, blade-like leaves with soft, notched tips that give it a wispy, grass-like appearance. Paired with sparse yet striking white blooms and a cascading habit, Hoya retusa offers an airy aesthetic ideal for minimal, modern indoor plant displays and makes an excellent low-maintenance hanging houseplant.
The genus Hoya was named after botanist Thomas Hoy. The species name retusa means “blunt” or “notched,” referring to the shallow indentation at the tip of each thin, blade-like leaf. Hoya retusa was first described by Dalzell in 1852 in the Western Ghats region of India.
Looking for a Hoya that breaks the mold? Hoya retusa offers minimalist beauty, fine-textured foliage, and subtle blooms. Order now and add this easy-care trailing plant to your indoor collection.
