Hoya carnosa ‘Suzie Q’ combines the elegance of Krimson Queen with the textured character of Krinkle 8, creating a rare hybrid with real presence. Thick, glossy leaves show cream-to-pink variegated margins against deep green centers, while a gentle crinkle runs along their surface, adding depth and sculptural appeal. New leaves often emerge with a soft pink blush before transitioning to their mature tones. When established, this cultivar produces clusters of porcelain-like blooms – white stars with a pink-red center – releasing a delicate fragrance in the evening. It’s a versatile plant for hanging baskets or trellises, bringing vibrant, structured greenery into modern interiors.
This hybrid inherits its tropical lineage from Southeast Asia, where Hoyas grow as epiphytes in bright, filtered light and high humidity. Indoors, it grows steadily and can reach 1.5 – 2 m with support. Its growth pattern is trailing or climbing, making it perfect for hanging planters or vertical displays. Like other Hoyas, it is mildly toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets.
The genus name honors Thomas Hoy, an English horticulturist. ‘Suzie Q’ is a commercial name highlighting its vibrant, decorative personality – a cultivar popular among collectors for its unusual mix of traits.
Order today and enjoy lush variegated vines, textured foliage, and clusters of porcelain blooms that bring timeless elegance to your home.
