Goeppertia (Calathea) kegeljanii 'Network' is a mosaic-patterned prayer plant with pale green leaves covered in a fine mesh of darker green lines. The pattern is detailed but calm, giving the plant a soft green look with plenty to notice up close.
New leaves rise from short rhizomes at the base and open from rolled shoots. As each blade expands, the fine network pattern becomes clearer and the plant gradually builds into a rounded clump.
Goeppertia kegeljanii is native to Espírito Santo in Brazil, where it grows as a perennial in wet tropical conditions. Calathea musaica is treated as a synonym, and the mosaic-like leaf pattern remains the clearest link to that older name.
The leaf surface looks intricate, but the plant’s structure is simple: rhizomes at the base produce petioles and leaves that expand into a rounded clump. Because the leaves are relatively thin, the fine margins and mesh pattern show stress from dry air, hard water, hot sun, or fertiliser build-up.
Goeppertia kegeljanii 'Network' is covered by the general Calathea/Marantaceae pet-safety listing as non-toxic to cats and dogs. If pets chew your plants often, place it somewhere they cannot easily reach.
The genus Goeppertia is named for Johann Heinrich Robert Göppert and belongs to Marantaceae. The species epithet kegeljanii commemorates Ferdinand Kegeljan, associated with horticultural society work in Namur, Belgium. The synonym Calathea musaica reflects the mosaic-like pattern, while 'Network' describes the same fine leaf mesh in everyday horticultural language.
Goeppertia kegeljanii 'Network' forms a rounded green clump with fine mosaic patterning across light oval leaves.
