Ensete ventricosum ‘Maurelii’ is a fast-growing plant built around a thick red-toned pseudostem, a trunk-like structure made from tightly overlapping leaf bases. Large paddle-shaped leaves spread from its top, combining green and olive surfaces with bronze and burgundy tones around strong red midribs.
As the lowest blades are shed, their overlapping bases remain wrapped around the centre and maintain the thick pseudostem.
