Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia 'Magenta' has slim green leaves with magenta-red edges. The leaves grow in tufts at the tops of slender cane-like stems, giving the plant an upright, narrow shape as it gains height.
This cultivar grows slowly. The canes become more visible as older lower leaves age and drop. If a stem becomes too tall, pruning during active growth can bring the plant back to a manageable height and encourage new shoots lower on the cane.
'Magenta' is often sold as Dracaena marginata 'Magenta'. It is a cultivar of Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia, the narrow-leaved dragon tree still widely sold under the older Dracaena marginata name.
Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia 'Magenta' is toxic if ingested. Place it out of reach of pets and small children, and remove fallen leaves after maintenance.
Angustifolia means narrow-leaved. 'Magenta' refers to the red-purple colouring along the leaf margins.
