Dracaena reflexa 'Song of India' has glossy green leaves with cream to yellow-green margins. The leaves are narrow, slightly arching and grouped near the tips of the branches. Even a younger plant can have several leafy stem tips rather than one single rosette.
This Dracaena slowly builds woody, branching stems indoors. As older stems become more visible, the plant takes on a small shrub-like shape that can be kept compact with pruning. A tall or uneven stem can be cut above a node, where fresh shoots often form lower down.
Dracaena reflexa is a warm-climate shrub or tree from north-east Mozambique and the western Indian Ocean region. Indoors, 'Song of India' keeps that branching habit on a smaller scale, with woody stems, clustered leaves and slow, steady growth.
Dracaena reflexa 'Song of India' is toxic if ingested. Keep it away from pets and small children, and remove fallen leaves or cut stem pieces after pruning.
Dracaena belongs to Asparagaceae. The genus name comes from Greek drakaina, meaning female dragon, and reflexa means bent back or sharply bent.
