Ctenanthe 'Compactstar' has pale green leaves marked by dark herringbone striping. The undersides are purple and show when the leaves lift.
This cultivated Ctenanthe grows from the base and stays short and upright. Like many prayer-plant relatives, its leaves change position through the day.
The pale leaves mark quickly in strong sun, dry air or uneven moisture. Keep the root zone lightly moist and airy while new leaves are expanding.
Place Ctenanthe 'Compactstar' away from pets and children that nibble houseplants. Ingested leaves can upset sensitive stomachs. Remove damaged young leaves once fresh growth has replaced them.
Ctenanthe 'Compactstar' belongs to Marantaceae, the prayer-plant family.
