Cordyline fruticosa ‘Mambo’ carries broad glossy leaves in maroon, burgundy and dark green. Fresh growth can open red-bronze before settling into deeper wine tones, and fine green or crimson streaks may remain visible across the hardened surface. A strong central fold runs through each thick leathery blade.
Polished maroon surfaces catch the light, darker green remains between the warm tones and the upright centre carries the newest red growth. Leaves become long and heavy enough to form wide curves around the cane. As the lower foliage is lost, more of the sturdy stem becomes visible, and older plants may branch into several heads. The result is a taller, darker specimen with its richest burgundy carried on the largest leaves.
