Cordyline fruticosa ‘Conga’ has lustrous strap-shaped leaves in deep green and creamy white. Pale variegation runs irregularly along the margins and can push inward in broad strokes, so every blade carries a different division of colour.
A clear central fold and a smooth, lightly glossy surface lead the eye towards the tapered tip. Opening leaves have a soft green-and-cream cast; the pale margins brighten and the dark centres deepen once the blades are fully expanded. Their increasing length creates shallow arches around the short cane. The cultivar retains a relatively compact build.
New basal shoots can add further heads and make the plant considerably fuller. On an older specimen, firm dark-centred leaves with crisp cream edges surround a greener, more upright centre of recent growth.
