Coleus scutellarioides ‘Le Freak’ has narrow burgundy leaves cut into long irregular lobes. Jagged yellow-green margins trace every tooth and projection, making the foliage look fringed or feathered. The centre lobe is usually longest, with shorter side sections breaking up the outline even further.
Square stems branch readily and carry opposite leaf pairs in different directions, allowing the cut edges to overlap into a shaggy compact mound. New leaves begin smaller and greener at the shoot tips; burgundy fills their centres as the lobes lengthen. Pinched or naturally branching stems keep producing fresh points of growth around the plant. As the mound fills in, hundreds of sharp lime edges remain visible against the mass of dark narrow leaf centres.
