Caladium ‘Seafoam Pink’ has broad heart-shaped leaves with a light green to yellow-green base, darker green areas and pink to rose blotches. The markings vary from leaf to leaf, so new leaves can show a different balance of green and pink.
The plant grows from a tuber and forms an upright clump. It is larger than ‘Miss Muffet’, with longer, broader leaves and a looser mottled pattern.
The tuber sends up leaves in sequence while conditions stay warm. Warm roots, an airy substrate and steady moisture help the leaves expand. After the leaves decline, keep the tuber warm and drier until it restarts.
Caladium ‘Seafoam Pink’ may produce a spathe and spadix. Remove spent flowers if they appear.
Caladium ‘Seafoam Pink’ contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If eaten, leaves, petioles or tuber tissue can irritate the mouth and throat. Keep out of reach of pets and young children.
Also sold as ‘Sea Foam Pink’, this cultivar comes from a 2005 Florida cross between ‘Carolyn Whorton’ and ‘Miss Muffet’.
