Long petioles are as important to the scale of Anthurium salgarense as the leaves themselves. Each blade sits at the end of a long petiole, well away from the short stem, so the crown is high and open with generous spacing between the blades.
Mature leaves are broadly arrow-shaped, with a long front section, substantial rear lobes and an undulating edge. Mature blades can approach 1 m long, and the petioles can exceed the blade length. The long leaf stalks are brittle when bent sharply and contribute to the plant’s wide, open footprint.
Pale raised veins cross the dark green surface and remain visible from a distance, reinforcing the broad outline of the leaf.
