Large established plants carry increasingly substantial foliage, and their yeast-scented inflorescences attract small fruit flies as pollinators.
Older plants produce increasingly substantial blades with a smooth to lightly leathery surface and an uninterrupted lower outline. Published sources establish the unusual peltate construction, epiphytic habit and fruit-fly pollination more securely than a fixed 90–180 cm cultivated size range. Established specimens can become large, but their final height and spread depend on ecotype, support, container culture and growing conditions.
Anthurium peltigerum develops broad shield-shaped leaves with the petiole attached beneath the blade instead of at the margin. Young foliage is soft, bright green and comparatively rounded. Mature leaves become larger, firmer and darker, with the main veins radiating outward from the concealed attachment point.
