Mature leaves become broader, darker and more heart-shaped, with long tips and a clear vein pattern. This Mexican species remains smaller than many large velvet Anthuriums, usually around 50–60 cm across indoors. Older plants show stronger contrast and thicker foliage, while juveniles can have simpler shapes and less defined markings.
Fresh foliage opens soft and light, then becomes densely velvety as it hardens; the species comes from seasonally dry tropical forest in Chiapas. Anthurium leuconeurum develops dark velvet leaves crossed by pale central and basal veins. Young growth can open bronze or reddish before becoming deep green. The velvet finish and pale lines strengthen as each blade hardens.
