Mature blades become wider, thicker and more strongly lobed, with understated veins within the dark surface. The plant can reach about 80 cm high and wide. This cultivated line is associated with Indonesian breeder Haji Ulih, although its exact parentage is not publicly documented.
‘King of Spades’, also traded as ‘HU’, develops broad dark velvet leaves with a pronounced spade shape. Young growth can open bronze or reddish before becoming deep green to nearly black.
