Bold irregular stripes run from base to blade along the sturdy pale stems of Alocasia zebrina ‘Tigrina Superba’. Large glossy green arrows spread above them, combining long rear lobes, a pointed front section and a smooth surface that keeps the dramatic bands fully visible.
Both features gain force with age: later leaves become broader and firmer, while the stems thicken and carry heavier stripes along their full length. Indoors, mature plants generally stand 1–1.5 m tall, with tropical or greenhouse conditions supporting growth near 1.8 m. Nursery catalogues were already selling this tall cultivated form in the 1860s, giving it a long history in ornamental cultivation.
