Alocasia ‘Sumo’ is a hybrid of Alocasia ‘Portora’ and Alocasia princeps. ‘Portora’ is a hybrid of Alocasia odora, which grows in Asian rainforest, bamboo thickets and riverbanks, and Alocasia portei from secondary forest on Luzon. A. princeps grows on well-drained Bornean forest slopes and ridges.

• Watering: Keep the root ball consistently moist; water as the surface begins to feel less damp and allow drainage to finish fully.
• Humidity: For this large hybrid, keep relative humidity above about 60% so the broad leaf surfaces retain moisture more evenly.
• Temperature: Maintain approximately 21–28°C.
