Alocasia sp. Sulawesi 'Green Carpet' has narrow dark green leaves with strong ribbing and a pronounced midrib. The leaf surface is deeply textured, so the secondary veins form a raised pattern across each blade.
New leaves rise from the base and hold their narrow shape above the pot. As the plant fills out, the dark colour and ridged surface give each leaf clear definition from midrib to margin.
Alocasia sp. Sulawesi 'Green Carpet' grows from the base as a compact clumping Alocasia. The leaves stay narrow, and the plant forms upright petioles with a tight clumping base.
The ribbed surface can hold dust along the veins and shows pest marks quickly. A bright filtered position, steady humidity and an airy substrate allow excess water to drain while keeping air around the roots.
Alocasia sp. Sulawesi 'Green Carpet' contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and small children. Chewed leaves or stems can cause irritation, drooling and digestive discomfort.
