Parentage and habitat background

Alocasia ‘Polly’ Variegata Aurea is a yellow-variegated mutation of ‘Polly’, the compact tissue-culture selection from the historic ‘Amazonica’ line.

Its parent species trace to damp Philippine ravines and to Southeast Asian rainforest, swamp forest, boulders and cliffs. Yellow variegation appeared after the hybrid was already established in cultivation.
