Aeschynanthus ‘Swing’ is a lipstick plant cultivar with slim hanging stems and small, glossy leaves that develop a soft curl as they mature. The plant first builds outward from the crown, then the stems settle into a loose cascade. Red tubular flowers can appear near established shoot tips.
Side shoots develop through the crown as the plant ages. Longer untrimmed stems give a looser hanging shape, while selective tip pruning encourages branching closer to the base.
Aeschynanthus belongs to the Gesneriaceae family and is native from southern China through tropical Asia. Many species grow as epiphytes or lithophytes, adapted to loose, airy rooting conditions and warm climates.
Aeschynanthus ‘Swing’ is generally considered non-toxic. A raised or hanging position helps protect the trailing stems.
