Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Raven' grows with thick upright stems and glossy paired leaflets that emerge bright green before darkening over several weeks to deep charcoal or near-black. This gradual colour shift gives the plant a two-tone look during active growth, while the underground rhizomes provide the same drought tolerance and durability associated with standard ZZ plants. It stays relatively compact, usually around 40–70 cm tall, and handles low to bright indirect light as long as direct scorching sun is avoided.
Let the substrate dry fully before watering again, use a loose draining mix, and resist the urge to water on schedule, since rot from excess moisture is the main cause of failure.
Plant tissue contains calcium oxalate, so despite the easy care and tidy habit it should be kept away from pets and children that may chew it.
