Tillandsia tricolor forms a firmer, more upright rosette than many smaller air plants and becomes most showy when its colourful bracts and violet flowers develop from the centre spike.
It comes from wetter habitats than the driest silver Tillandsia, so it appreciates more regular watering, but the balance is the same: get it properly wet, then let it dry fully in good air movement.
Bright diffused light keeps the plant compact and helps it bloom, while hard midday sun or stale enclosed displays usually lead to scorched leaves or base rot. Mounted or placed loosely in an open holder, it works well as a specimen air plant for growers who want something greener and more vertical than a simple silver rosette. Fast drying matters more than display style.
