This mixed set contains cultivated Tillandsia air plants from a genus native to tropical and subtropical parts of the Americas.

Across the genus, species occur from humid forest to exposed rock and dry woodland, often attached to trees or rock surfaces.

Care for 10 × Tillandsia Air Plants

• Light: Use bright indirect light. Some heavily scaled species tolerate gentle direct sun after gradual acclimation, while softer green species need more protection.
• Temperature: Maintain roughly 15–30 °C. If conditions approach 12 °C, move the plant away from the cold source. Temperatures approaching 30 °C require high humidity, good airflow and reliable drying. Protect the mixed set from frost and cold draughts.
• Humidity: Match humidity to the individual plants and keep air moving around the foliage. After watering, allow every plant to dry fully before returning it to its display.
• Airflow: Keep air moving around the leaves. Do not keep damp Tillandsia in a closed container.
• Water: Soak each plant in room-temperature, low-mineral water for about 20 to 30 minutes. Adjust the interval for the individual species, room temperature and drying speed.
• Drying: Shake out trapped water and dry every plant upside down or on an open towel. The central rosette and leaf bases must be fully dry before the plant is returned to its display.
• Feeding: During active growth, an occasional very weak Tillandsia or bromeliad fertiliser can be added to the soaking water.
• Propagation: Most Tillandsia produce offsets after flowering. If you propagate a plant from the set, separate an offset only once it is at least about one-third the size of its parent; individual species can vary.

Common Tillandsia problems

• Brown tips: The plant may be too dry, exposed to hot sun or reacting to mineral-heavy water. Soak sooner if it is drying too far, move it from hot direct sun, or switch to lower-mineral water as appropriate.
• Tighter curling and loss of firmness: The plant is dehydrating. Soak it thoroughly, dry it fully and shorten the interval before the next watering.
• Soft or dark base: Water has remained trapped around the centre or lower leaves. Remove the plant from its display and improve drying and airflow.
• Bleached patches: Light or heat is too intense. Move the plant away from hot direct sun and acclimate it more gradually.
• Parent plant declining after flowering: Many Tillandsia flower once and then produce offsets. Continue caring for firm young rosettes that form around the base.
