Chris van der Voort bred Spathiphyllum ‘Vivaldi’ from two Spathiphyllum selections and selected it in Honselersdijk, the Netherlands, in 1993. Spathiphyllum species originate in humid forest and streamside settings in the tropical Americas.

Water when the surface begins to dry while the compact root ball still holds light moisture, soaking it evenly and draining the pot completely.

Leaf care and propagation: Cut each declining inflorescence at its base once the spathe has aged, and remove only fully yellow foliage. Divide an established clump into rooted sections with active buds to preserve the cultivar; seed-grown plants will not reliably reproduce it.

Growth and support: Keep Spathiphyllum ‘Vivaldi’ in medium to bright indirect light, using the brighter end of that range to support repeat flowering.

Roots and substrate: Drain the pot completely and avoid allowing the small crown to cycle between severe wilt and permanent saturation. The compact root volume can dry quickly, but it needs only a modest pot rather than a deep reservoir of unused wet mix.

A light, dry root ball with sound roots can produce dramatic wilt and should be soaked thoroughly, then drained. Wilt that persists while the mix is wet, especially with a sour smell or soft roots, usually means the roots are no longer working well. Remove decayed material and restore air around the remaining firm roots instead of adding more water. Flowering weakens in insufficient light. Shift Spathiphyllum ‘Vivaldi’ gradually towards brighter indirect light and avoid forcing growth with concentrated feed. White spathes commonly age through green before turning brown; this is normal development, not a nutrient disorder. Remove the entire spent flower stalk at the base.

Tip and margin browning should be traced through water quality, salt build-up, root health and moisture swings. Thrips scar rolls and flowers, while mites stipple the lower surface. Expanding wet damaged patches call for separation from other plants and dry foliage. An individual old leaf can yellow naturally, but a soft centre or simultaneous crown collapse needs immediate root inspection.
