Spathiphyllum ‘Bingo Cupido’, also known by the trade name ‘Spapril’, is a hybrid peace lily admired for its oversized inflorescences and impressive floral display. Broad, deep-green foliage provides a lush backdrop, while stout stems lift the large white spathes just above the leaves for maximum effect.
Compared to standard peace lilies, ‘Bingo Cupido’ produces inflorescences that are significantly larger, with strong stems that hold them proudly above the foliage. Flowers appear in good numbers, creating a bold and elegant display that contrasts beautifully with its glossy dark leaves. This makes it one of the showiest hybrids for collectors and interior designers alike.
The genus Spathiphyllum combines the Greek words spathē (“sword”) and phyllon (“leaf”), describing the sword-like spathes that enclose its flowers. The commonly cultivated species Spathiphyllum wallisii was named in honour of Gustav Wallis (1830 – 1878), a German plant collector who introduced many tropical plants to Europe. ‘Bingo Cupido’ belongs to the Cupido hybrid line, bred for enhanced bloom size and decorative value.
Like all peace lilies, ‘Bingo Cupido’ contains calcium oxalate and should be kept away from pets and children. Its large flowers and robust foliage make it an excellent choice for statement displays in homes, offices, or hospitality spaces where dramatic, long-lasting blooms are valued.
Spathiphyllum comes from Greek spathē (“sword”) and phyllon (“leaf”), referencing the spathe that surrounds the flowers. The epithet wallisii honours Gustav Wallis, a German collector who shaped 19th-century horticulture. The cultivar name ‘Bingo Cupido’ highlights its hybrid origin in the Cupido line, while ‘Spapril’ is a registered trade name used in horticulture.
Want a peace lily with extra-large blooms and a bold presence? Order Spathiphyllum ‘Bingo Cupido’ today and enjoy its impressive floral display indoors year-round.
