Rhaphidophora megasperma is a rare and striking climber from the tropical rainforests of Borneo and the Malay Peninsula. Known for its unique perforated leaves and impressive climbing ability, this semi-leptocaul liana can reach up to 5 meters in length. With the right care, it thrives indoors, bringing an exotic jungle feel to any space.
The genus Rhaphidophora derives from the Greek words 'rhaphis' (needle) and 'phoros' (bearing), referencing the plant’s needle-like calcium oxalate crystals. The species name 'megasperma' (Greek: mega = large, sperma = seed) highlights its relatively large seeds.
