How to care for Peperomia ‘Pepperspot’ indoors

• Light: Bright filtered light helps the fine stems stay well leafed. In a dimmer position, the gaps between the tiny leaves become increasingly obvious.
• Watering: Let the top section of the mix dry and check that the pot also feels lighter before watering. Because small hanging containers can dry quickly, check the potting mix before watering.
• Potting mix: Use a light, open mix with fine bark plus perlite or pumice. It should drain freely while still holding some moisture in the small pot.
• Humidity: Average room humidity is suitable. Moderate humidity can help when the trailing stems have airflow and the potting mix is allowed to dry between waterings.
• Temperature: Keep ‘Pepperspot’ warm at roughly 18–30 °C and away from chilled window glass or draughts.
• Feeding: While new stem growth is active, give a half-strength balanced liquid feed every few weeks. Light feeding is enough.
• Pruning: Pinch or cut the longest stems just above a leaf joint to encourage side shoots and keep the plant full around the rim.
• Propagation: Healthy trimmings with several leaf joints make suitable stem cuttings. Root them in a loose, lightly moist mix and keep them warm in bright indirect light until established.
• Repotting: Move up one pot size when the roots have filled the container. Keep the bases of the trailing stems at the same depth.

• Small leaves shrivel or drop while stems remain firm: Check whether the potting mix has dried completely. Water thoroughly if dry, then check the pot more often and adjust to how quickly the mix dries.
• The uppermost tiny leaves turn pale and crisp: Harsh direct sun is likely scorching the exposed growth. Shift the plant into filtered light and allow fresh trailing stems to cover the damaged areas.
