‘Thai Constellation’ is a cultivated variegated form of Monstera deliciosa, distinguished by its cream-speckled and marbled pattern.

Monstera deliciosa is native from southern Mexico into Guatemala and grows as a tropical climber.

Growing Monstera ‘Thai Constellation’ indoors

Give the thick climbing stem a sturdy pole or plank before it becomes difficult to redirect. Bright, indirect light suits the broad green-and-cream leaves; acclimate the plant gradually after a move and shield pale areas from harsh midday sun.

Let the upper portion of an airy, coarse root mix dry before watering. Rewet the whole rootball, allow excess water to drain and empty any water held in a cover pot. Warm, steady conditions support active growth, and dusty leaves can be wiped with a soft damp cloth.

Feed moderately while the plant is producing new leaves. Move up a pot size when roots have filled the current mix; an oversized container can leave too much wet substrate around a smaller root system.

• Brown marks on pale areas: Strong sun, abrupt drying, excess heat or root stress can all mark cream tissue. Move the plant out of harsh sun or hot dry airflow and re-establish even moisture if the rootball has dried too hard. Inspect the leaf undersides, leaf-stalk bases and nodes for these signs. If you confirm scale insects or mealybugs, isolate the plant and remove visible insects from these hiding places. • New leaves stay small and whole: A young plant may not be ready to develop holes. On an established specimen, make sure the thick stem is securely supported and that the growing point is receiving bright indirect light. Monstera comes from Latin monstrum or monstrosus, words for something unusual or abnormally formed, referring to the striking holes and divisions in the leaves.
