Lavandula angustifolia (white form) offers English lavender structure with pale, creamy flower spikes that read clean and bright in summer. A set of 6 plants is made for repetition: a short hedge along a path, a border line in gravel, or a calm ribbon of scent through a sunny bed. Plants typically form rounded shrubs that mature somewhere around 40 to 80 cm tall and wide, depending on pruning and site.
White-flowering lavender still wants the same conditions as the purple forms: full sun, lean soil, and fast drainage. When the crown stays dry and roots stay aerated, the plants remain dense and tidy for years. When soil stays wet and heavy, stems thin out, bases brown, and winter losses increase.
For a continuous line, space plants roughly 35 to 50 cm apart so mounds meet without becoming airless. Plant slightly high so water runs away from the woody base. In heavier ground, raising the planting area and adding mineral grit improves drainage and reduces crown rot.
Trim lightly after flowering to keep the row even and prevent the centre opening up. In spring, remove winter-damaged tips and tidy the outline. Cutting hard into old leafless wood - lavender often struggles to reshoot from bare stems often shows up later as patchy growth or dieback.
In pots, use a mineral-lean mix and generous drainage. Water thoroughly, drain fully, then allow the top layer to dry. In winter, rain sitting in the pot is the main risk; frost, so keep containers draining freely at all times.
