Kalanchoe tomentosa is a slow-growing Madagascan succulent known for grey-green leaves covered in dense silvery hairs, with darker markings concentrated along the edges and tips. The fuzzy coating is not just ornamental: it helps reduce water loss and softens the whole plant into a compact, upright shrublet that becomes more branched with age.
Indoors it usually reaches around 35–45 cm, though older plants can become taller. Bright light, a very free-draining succulent mix, and complete drying between waterings are the essentials. It prefers warm, dry conditions and dislikes heavy humidity or wet soil, both of which increase rot risk indoors.
This species is considered toxic to pets if eaten, so it is better treated as decorative rather than nibble-safe.
