Hoya Potting Mix – airy mix for wax plants in pots
Hoya Potting Mix is built for rooted wax plants that sit in small pots and baskets for long stretches. It gives you a root zone that wets properly, drains cleanly and does not stay heavy after watering.
It fits many common Hoya grown indoors, especially where standard houseplant soil stays damp for too long.
How to apply it
- Choose a pot size that matches the root ball closely and avoid leaving a large ring of unused soil.
- Water thoroughly, then let the mix approach lightly damp before watering again.
- If a plant is very dry-rooted, a brief soak can re-wet the organic fraction evenly.
Mixing guide
For very warm, bright spots you can blend in a small amount of moisture-holding material. For cooler rooms, keep the mix on the more open side and avoid overpotting.
Use and timing
This mix is built around structure first. Use it as a complete potting mix, or blend it into a base soil to adjust airflow and drying speed.
Watering should match the pot size and root mass. Check moisture at depth and adjust your routine after the first few cycles.
Worth noting
- Moisten dry components before potting so the mix settles evenly.
- Choose pot size for the root ball, not for the top growth.
- Top-dress with the same mix to reduce surface compaction.
