This rare form of Hoya from northern Vietnam stands out with its glossy, medium-green leaves covered in natural silver speckles. Known in cultivation as Hoya sp. Lai Chau 'Splash', it climbs or trails with ease and develops compact internodes and semi-succulent leaves. With time and the right care, mature plants may reward you with clusters of creamy-white star-shaped blooms that release a sweet evening scent. The silvery flecking on the foliage varies slightly between leaves, giving each plant a unique appearance.
Hoya sp. Lai Chau 'Splash' comes from evergreen lower montane forests in northern Vietnam, at elevations of 800 – 1,000 m. There, it grows epiphytically in filtered light, anchoring to mossy bark and limestone. Temperatures average between 18 – 30 °C with high year-round humidity. Indoors, it adapts well to bright indirect light and a stable environment. Its twining habit benefits from vertical support, but it can also trail from shelves or hanging pots. As a tropical vine, it grows slowly but steadily under the right care. Like other Hoyas, it produces latex sap and should be kept out of reach of pets or children.

Care issues:
This unnamed Hoya is valued for its origin in Lai Châu Province and the appealing speckled foliage. It adapts well indoors with consistent care, and understanding its original epiphytic forest setting helps guide proper placement and substrate choice. While it hasn’t been described scientifically yet, growers appreciate its character and slow, manageable growth.
