Goeppertia (Calathea) lietzei 'Yellow Fusion' is a compact prayer plant with green, lime-yellow and warmer yellow patches across the leaves. It has the same soft, moving prayer-plant feel as the lietzei group, but with a warmer colour range.

The plant grows from a rhizomatous base and produces slender petioles with softly patterned leaves. Purple-toned undersides become visible when the leaves lift in the evening.

The yellow tissue is part of the cultivated leaf pattern. Indoors, the plant does best with filtered light, warm roots, even moisture and high humidity.

• Light: Place in bright indirect light or gentle filtered shade. Direct sun can dry the yellow sections and leave papery marks.

Goeppertia honours Johann Heinrich Robert Goeppert, a German botanist and palaeobotanist. Calathea is the older genus name still seen with this species, and the name traces back to a word for a basket-like vessel. The species name lietzei refers to Mr. Lietz of Brazil. The yellow-marbled plant keeps the compact rhizomatous growth of the species.
