Growth begins with slim upright stems that divide repeatedly into finer branches. As these branches multiply, the plant becomes fuller and more shrub-like.
Mature plants carry very little lasting foliage, so the branches remain clearly visible. Older plants can also produce small yellow flowers near the tips.
