Persian Lime carries oval fruit with smooth, aromatic skin and juicy pale green flesh. The limes are normally picked green, although fruit left to full ripeness changes to yellow. At roughly 5.5–7 cm long, they are larger and thicker-skinned than Green Lime and usually contain very few seeds.
This is a vigorous, nearly thornless citrus with glossy ovate leaves and white flowers. Fruit develops over several months, gradually becoming heavier and rounder while the rind lightens. Trees reach several metres in tropical climates, while container plants can be maintained around 1.5 m. Flowers and fruit at different stages may share the same dense crown.
