Small velvety leaves show bronze, burgundy, green and near-black tones on Begonia sp. Ngoc Lac. Fine serration sharpens the asymmetrical margins, and tiny reflective hairs change the visible colour as light moves across the surface.
The plant remains compact and dense at maturity. Ngoc Lac is the Vietnamese locality attached to this cultivated plant, and “sp.” marks its status as an undescribed species.
