Begonia 'Silver Maples' rises on cane stems and carries sharply lobed leaves that really do suggest maple silhouettes, with irregular silver splashes laid over a dark green base. Because the leaf shape is so distinct, it brings structure as well as colour, especially once repeated pinching encourages several upright canes instead of one thin stem.
Bright diffused light keeps the silver pattern clear, while a loose, organic substrate with good drainage helps the roots stay active without becoming waterlogged. Keep the mix lightly moist, maintain moderate humidity, and prune the tips when the plant starts stretching so the lower sections do not become bare. It is taller and more architectural than many begonias grown for leaf pattern alone, which makes it especially useful when a collection needs height as well as contrast.
