Asparagus aethiopicus ‘Sprengeri’ sends long arching shoots through clouds of narrow needle-like cladodes. These flattened green structures perform the work of leaves and gather in dense groups along wiry stems, creating a soft appearance over growth that may also carry small sharp spines.
Young shoots rise upright and bright green before lengthening into broad curves or trailing below the pot. Older plants develop many branching stems from a thickened underground root system and can spread well over 1 m. Small white flowers may appear among the cladodes, followed by round berries that ripen red. Fresh vertical growth, mature arching sprays and fruiting stems can all remain present on a full specimen.
