Older leaves combine the large proportions of regale with the width and substantial texture of magnificum. Mature plants may reach around 80–100 cm high and wide, with individual leaves exceeding 50 cm. Seedlings can differ in shape and silver intensity, but later growth should be much larger and darker than the juvenile foliage.
As the plant matures, it develops broad velvet leaves with strong pale venation, deep basal lobes and a thick, firm blade. Fresh leaves can open bronze or copper before hardening into dark green velvet. Strong silver-green veins run across a broad heart shape that lengthens noticeably as the plant matures.
