Anthurium regale × A. magnificum is a horticultural hybrid between Anthurium regale from wet forest in north-eastern Peru and Anthurium magnificum Linden from wet tropical forest in Colombia. The hybrid has no natural range, and individual plants vary in leaf width, vein contrast and eventual scale.

How to care for Anthurium regale × A. magnificum

• Acclimation: Let a newly arrived plant settle in its nursery pot until its drying rhythm is clear.
• Light and space: Place it in bright filtered light with enough room for the broad blades to turn and expand.
• Water: Water thoroughly as the upper substrate begins to dry, then empty all drainage water.
• Repotting and substrate: When repotting is needed, use a stable pot close to the root mass and an open bark-based mix with fibrous material and mineral drainage.
• New-leaf handling: Keep the plant in one position during leaf expansion and avoid handling the soft blade.

The genus name Anthurium combines Greek anthos, “flower”, and oura, “tail”, referring to the tail-like spadix. The epithet regale is Latin for royal. The epithet magnificum is Latin for magnificent.
