Alocasia 'Nairobi Nights' variegata is a compact patterned Alocasia with cupped green leaves, pink-toned petioles and irregular cream-white variegation. Some leaves stay mostly green; others show larger pale areas across the blade.
Alocasia 'Nairobi Nights' comes from the Safari Series. This variegated form keeps the pink petioles and cupped leaf shape, while each new leaf can carry more green or more cream-white tissue.
The cream-white areas have little to no chlorophyll, so the plant relies on greener leaves and healthy roots. Give bright filtered light and keep the pot warm. Cold wet substrate can soften petioles and stall new leaves, while harsh sun or strong fertiliser can mark pale sections quickly.
Alocasia 'Nairobi Nights' variegata contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. If plant tissue is ingested, it can irritate the mouth, tongue and throat. Keep the plant out of reach of pets and children, and wash your hands after cutting damaged leaves or handling divisions.
Alocasia is a New Latin aroid genus name formed in relation to Colocasia. 'Nairobi Nights' is the cultivar name, while variegata describes the pale patterning on this variegated selection.
Choose this plant for cupped leaves, pink petioles and changing cream-white variegation in a compact Alocasia.
