Adenium obesum
Adenium obesum, Desert Rose, is a succulent shrub with a broad bottle-shaped base that becomes heavier with age. Grey-green stems rise from this base and divide into short branches carrying clusters of firm leaves and bright trumpet-shaped flowers.
Older specimens develop a rounded, increasingly branched crown above the swollen trunk. Pink to reddish flowers have pale centres and striped throats, while the plant may pass through a partly or completely leafless resting phase before new buds emerge.
