Polyscias guilfoylei 'Roble' has substantial glossy leaflets with broad teeth, rounded lobes and an irregular outline often compared with an oak leaf. Their leathery green surface and prominent midrib make each segment feel visually weightier than the fine foliage of Ming or fern-leaf aralias.
The foliage is compound rather than simple. Some leaves divide only once, while others branch into a more complex arrangement of lobed leaflets, creating several scales of pattern on the same upright plant. Leaves gather along woody stems that branch with age and gradually form a dense, shrub-like crown. Variation in lobe depth and leaflet arrangement keeps the outline richly irregular from one shoot to the next.
