• Light: A bright spot with filtered light shows the glossy leaves and pale veins well while helping the growth stay compact. Abrupt strong sun can bleach or burn the broad leaves.
• Watering: Use two cues together: let the top part of the potting mix dry and wait until the pot feels lighter. Then water evenly, let the excess drain and allow the mix to dry again before watering.
• Potting mix: Give the roots a loose, airy mix that drains freely and still holds some moisture after watering.
• Temperature: Warm indoor conditions suit this variety. Protect it from cold draughts and sudden temperature drops, which also slow how quickly the pot dries.
• Humidity: Average to moderately high humidity is suitable. Good airflow around the overlapping broad leaves is especially useful as humidity rises.
• Feeding: Feed gently during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertiliser used according to the label.
• Support: Its short upright growth is naturally self-supporting.
• Repotting: Wait until the roots have filled the pot or the potting mix has compacted before repotting. Choose a modestly larger pot with drainage.
• Propagation: The simplest way to propagate it is with a healthy stem cutting that includes a node. Set it into an airy, lightly moist potting mix and keep it warm until new growth shows that it has established.

• The stem base becomes soft: Persistent wetness is the first concern. Unpot the plant, cut away rotten tissue with a clean, disinfected tool, discard the removed rot and restart healthy material if the root system is badly affected.
• Raised blisters or corky marks develop on leaves: This can occur when roots take up water faster than the leaves can release it. Let the mix dry more between waterings and improve airflow. In cool or low-light conditions, allow extra drying time between waterings.
• Pale tan patches appear on the upper leaf surface: Sudden strong sun is a common cause. Move the plant back from intense direct light and increase the light gradually if you want to give it a brighter position.
• New leaves stay small and the plant leans: Increase bright indirect light and rotate the pot for more even exposure. Keep feeding modestly while you improve the lighting.
