Opuntia ficus-indica
Flattened green pads build an irregular tiered crown above a woody trunk, creating the broad form of a tree-like prickly pear.
Fine barbed bristles and occasional longer spines cover the pads, while older growth may produce yellow, orange or red flowers followed by fleshy fruit.
