Ficus lyrata
Very large fiddle-shaped leaves rise around an upright woody trunk. Each leathery blade narrows through the middle, widens towards the tip and carries raised veins across a gently undulating surface.
Young plants commonly direct their growth into one leading stem, adding new leaves at the top and leaving the lower trunk increasingly visible. With age, the woody framework can divide into a wider crown of heavy foliage.
