‘Exotica’ is a long-established Ficus benjamina cultivar that has been grown in European horticulture for decades. It has also been used in breeding later Ficus varieties.

The species itself is native across tropical and subtropical Asia and northern Australia, mainly in wet tropical habitats.

• Give it a settled, bright position: Bright indirect or filtered daylight suits ‘Exotica’. After a move, keep it in one suitable place for a few weeks before repotting, major pruning or regular feeding.
• Keep the room warm and even: Aim for temperatures above 13 °C. Cold draughts and concentrated heater air can stress the foliage. Moderate to high humidity suits the plant. A humidifier can help in persistently dry rooms.
