Cycas revoluta is a slow-growing cycad with a stout trunk-like base and a crown of stiff, glossy, feather-like fronds arranged in a symmetrical rosette. Often called sago palm in trade, it belongs to the cycad lineage and develops slowly indoors. Give it very bright light, warm temperatures, and a sharply drained, mineral-rich substrate. Water deeply after the mix has dried well, then let the root zone breathe before the next watering. Good airflow around the crown helps new growth harden cleanly. All parts are highly toxic if ingested, especially for pets, so placement must prevent access by cats, dogs, and children.
