Cryptanthus bivittatus ‘Super Pink’ stays small, with a flat rosette of saturated pink, striped leaves. The narrow foliage spreads outward from the centre, with pale striping and fine teeth along the leaf edges.
The plant stays low and grows wider rather than taller. Its compact rosette stays manageable in small pots and can also grow in ventilated cabinets or glass setups. On a settled plant, small white flowers can appear in the centre. After flowering, offsets around the base keep the plant growing and build the clump over time.
Cryptanthus bivittatus is a Brazilian earth-star bromeliad from warm, humid habitats. ‘Super Pink’ has saturated pink leaves. It is a terrestrial bromeliad, so the roots need a mix that stays slightly moist but still lets air reach them. Water the substrate rather than the middle of the rosette.
Keep away from pets that persistently nibble plants. The fine teeth along the leaves can irritate skin or a pet’s mouth.
Cryptanthus means “hidden flower”. Bivittatus means “twice-striped” or “two-banded”, matching the striped foliage.
