Coco coir
Coco coir is a fine, fibrous ingredient made from coconut husk. It holds moisture in custom houseplant mixes and provides close contact around young roots.
Mix for the plant
Combine the coir with perlite, bark or mineral particles to create the air spaces your chosen plant needs. Fine coir used alone may dry slowly in a large or cool pot.
Prepare and water
Loosen the material before mixing. If it arrives dry, moisten it gradually and break apart clumps. Check the finished root zone rather than judging watering by a dry-looking surface.
Nutrition and quality
Coco coir is not a complete fertiliser. Feed established plants according to the finished mix, and use suitably prepared coir when growing salt-sensitive species.
