Chrysalidocarpus lutescens, often known as areca palm or golden cane palm, is a clustering palm from eastern Madagascar with yellow-green stems and soft, arching feather fronds. New canes emerge from the base, gradually forming a light upright screen. Give bright indirect light, steady warmth, moderate to higher humidity and a free-draining palm mix kept lightly and evenly moist. Let water move through the pot thoroughly after each watering. Rotate the pot so fresh canes receive even light, and avoid long dry spells that brown leaflet tips. Its cane-like stems and airy fronds form a layered palm outline as the plant gains size over time.
